This was about a year ago...I feels like yesterday. The journey has truly elevated my awareness of landscape as a subject matter, and photography as an art medium.
Landscape as a subject matter...
Is hard to be immune to its beauty. Develop your sensibility for aesthetics, and then put some emotional distance to analyze it before you select your shot.
On photography as an art medium...
The camera is a machine, there is no way around that. There are three key creative decisions that you will have to make.
- Framing
- Exposure
- Developing
Whether you make these decisions fully aware, or leave it to luck, automatic settings, software plug-ins, fads and trends, is up to you. The more you execute these three key steps fully engaged and with a clear intention, the more the result will reflect your persona l style and vision.

I had just the same thoughts myself today as I was writing. As a photographer it is the composition that helps me pick up the camera. The rest just seem to come as part of the package.
This picture is really beautiful!
