"Going To California with an aching in my heart....Standing on a hill in my mountain of dreams,
Telling myself it's not as hard, hard, hard as it seems..." -- LZ
Right when I was processing this photograph, Led Zeppeling's "Going to California" started playing.
It is no wonder why this state is so overpopulated. Within relatively short distances, you can find a vast array of landscape diversity and beauty.....but not much wilderness.
In the Alabama Hills, and some spots in Joshua Tree....I felt that I could just crawl under a beautiful rock or arch, and be. Be at home, and content. A strange energy and convergence, along with that realization of truth about some places in this earth: You can be somewhere in the middle of nowhere. And most of your life, you are nowhere, even though you live somewhere.
